The Welcome Reception features the awarding of the 5th Annual Top 10 Black Innovator Awards, which recognizes the top ten national African American innovators of 2016. The reception will be hosted on Friday March 10 at 6:00pm at the George Washington Carver Museum.
The Reception will include complimentary beverages and bites with auditory beats from Dallas’ DJ Phife. We will also have a special appearance from author Yoli Chisolm with her book Crushing Corporate.
As a part of the Welcome Reception – we will have our 5th Annual Innovator Awards Ceremony recognizing the Top Ten Black Innovators of 2016.
For 2017 – we will also feature a Stage Side Chat with Shea Moisture Founder and CEO Richelieu Dennis. Mr. Dennis will be interviewed by Primpii Founder and Private Equity Health Entrepreneur Tausha Robertson.
The chat will detail Mr. Dennis’ rise from an expat from his native country of Liberia due to a civil war to his company’s current valuation of $700 million and product distribution in 45,000 stores.
HBCU BATTLE OF THE BRAINS
This event will bring together the best and brightest college and graduate school students representing Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) from around the country. Teams of 3 to 5 students will work around the clock to develop a comprehensive solution to a complex issue. The HBCU Battle of the Brains will run from Friday March 11th to Saturday March 12.
